Artistic approach
After exploring various mediums such as photography, sculpture, silk painting and watercolor, I found my artistic voice in acrylic paint and mixed media, which are perfectly suited to my abstract, expressionist style. It was the abstract painters Miró, Kandinsky, Mitchell, Twombly and De Kooning who fascinated me as a teenager and even today.
My abstract artworks are deeply inspired by the beauty of nature, featuring color, movement and spontaneity, where the subconscious plays a more important role than the conscious. I don’t seek to faithfully reproduce my environment, but rather to convey the emotion felt in front of a landscape, a sunset, a garden or a field of wild flowers. This emotion takes shape through the interplay of colors, evocative shapes and spontaneous gestures that underlie each work.
Beginning by choosing a color palette, then spreading and mixing pigments directly on the canvas, I create the mood and subtle nuances characterizing my artworks. The different layers of paint and the use of transparent or semi-transparent pigments add depth to my creations. As I add details, a dialogue develops between me and the canvas. Composition and color harmony are very important, and I always pay great attention to them.
